The NM Ice Wolves are excited to announce Jared Brown was named the team’s Assistant Coach. Brown joins the staff of NM Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Phil Fox as the team’s second season in the NAHL’s Southern Division is getting underway.
“Jared brings years of playing experience at every level and he knows what it takes to be successful in the NAHL,” said Phil Fox, NM Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM. “We look forward to his contributions to our recruiting and to developing our players and team. His dedication and passion for hockey is exactly what we’re looking for as we continue to grow the sport of hockey in New Mexico and head into our sophomore season.”
Brown is a native of Gardner, Kansas and joins the NM Ice Wolves staff during the hockey team’s second NAHL season after spending the past 10 years playing professional hockey in the US and Europe. Prior to his time in professional hockey Brown played in the North American Hockey League for the Lone Star Calvary and Santa Fe Roadrunners before moving to the USHL where he played for the Lincoln Stars with fellow NM Ice Wolves coach, Kyle Follmer. Brown then went on to play Division I hockey at Northern Michigan University with Phil Fox, the NM Ice Wolves Head Coach. Following his college career Brown played in Missouri, South Dakota and Illinois as well as overseas in Slovakia, Poland and Romania. Jared spent his off seasons coaching youth hockey alongside former Detroit Red Wings Assistant Coach, Pat Ferschweiler, for more than 15 years.
“I’m thrilled and honored to join the NM Ice Wolves and return to New Mexico,” said Jared Brown, NM Ice Wolves Assistant Coach. “I look forward to teaching our individual players to be the best they can be as they pursue their dreams on the path to college hockey and contribute to the team’s success. I’m very excited to work with Coach Fox and Coach Follmer who I had the pleasure of playing with in juniors and college.”
