Day four of the Ice Wolves training camp came to an end and the competition to earn a roster spot continues to get tighter. The day saw players get put into new situations that highlighted each individual’s skill as well as the cohesion that is starting to form up and down the roster.
- Creativity and Confidence is Building
“We saw a lot of creativity and confidence today on the ice across the board. The team started to show a lot more group cohesion along with individual skill as they grow closer together.” -Kyle McKenzie
2. Decisions Becoming Difficult
“With each day the players are continuing to develop and improve working as a single unit. The communication on the ice is growing and the guys are excelling in each situation we put them in. All of this is making our decisions much more difficult which is a good problem to have.” -Kyle McKenzie
3. Strong in Net
Goaltending has always been a strength of the New Mexico Ice Wolves, and after the opening days of camp, this season looks to be no exception. All three net minders have shown up ready to compete for a roster spot. Coach Hogue went on to add that “I expect our goaltenders to make it hard to be scored on whenever they are in net, and so far all three goaltenders have met those expectations.” -Elliott Hogue
