Albuquerque, NM – The New Mexico Ice Wolves are pleased to announce that the team has signed a tender agreement with 2002-born defenseman Charlie Killian for the 2020-21 season.
Killian, a 5-foot-11, 181-pound Minnesota native, just finished his second season with St. Thomas Academy (USHS-MN) where he tallied 13 points (5g, 8a) through 25 games in the 2019-20 season.
Ice Wolves head coach, Phil Fox, is excited for what the young player could bring to the Ice Wolves roster. “We’re very happy to sign Charlie to a tender for the upcoming season. He is someone who works extremely hard on and off the ice.” Fox said. “He checks all the boxes of the type of player and young adult we want representing the Ice Wolves. Charlie is a great skater who defends well, plays with a chip on his shoulder and is great on the penalty kill.”
Killian is looking forward to joining the Ice Wolves organization. “I’m very excited to join the Ice Wolves organization, and I can’t wait to bring whatever I can to the table to help the team win,” he said.
Players interested in being part of the Ice Wolves organization can visit our prospective players information page here and can register for our Colorado pre-draft camp here.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL – plus or minus any trades – which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on July 21, 2020.
