The New Mexico Ice Wolves started the 2026-2027 season at home against the Odessa Jackalopes. The Jackalopes jumped out to an early lead when Jonathan Cifaldi tipped home a Xander Mullens shot from the point. The Ice Wolves would respond with rookie Max Stracar would find the back of the net for his first NAHL goal tying the game with 7:43 in the first period. The teams would stay tied up entering the second period until Johnathan Cifaldi would score his second of the game just after Odessa’s second powerplay expired to regain the lead two to one, a lead they would hold entering the third period. The lone goal of the third period saw Bjorn Bahneman would score his first of the season to give the Jackalopes a two goal cushion which would be enough for the victory.
