The New Mexico Ice Wolves and Odessa Jackalopes locked into another low scoring battle on opening weekend. Odessa opened the scoring as Patrick Thomas found the back of the net 2:20 into the opening period for his first NAHL goal. The Jackalopes would double their lead with just over 7 minutes remaining in the second period with Max Pieninkeroinen earning his first NAHL goal. With just over three minutes remaining in regulation Anthony Leech would score his first in the NAHL goal to bring the Ice Wolves within one. The Ice Wolves would not be able to find the equalizer and the Jackalopes would earn the weekend sweep.
