The Ice Wolves are excited to announce that the team has signed forward Blayde Pogreba to a tender agreement for the 2021-2022 season.
Pogreba has spent the last four seasons with the St. Paul Johnson High School Governors (USHS-MN). The 5’11” captain led his team with 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) in 18 games during the 2020-21 season. While playing at St. Paul Johnson, Pogreba had the opportunity to play all four seasons under legendary coach Moose Younghans.
The Minnesota native is eager to be a part of the NM Ice Wolves organization and begin his junior hockey career. “I’m honored to sign with the New Mexico Ice Wolves and I’m excited to start the next chapter of my hockey life with an amazing coaching staff and new teammates. ”
NM Ice Wolves head coach Phil Fox thinks Pogreba will fit well with the team. “We are very excited to sign a tough player like Pogreba as he’s shown he enjoys a good challenge and as a three-time captain for St. Paul Johnson High School he has a knack for leadership,” said Fox. “Blayde is a great two-way hockey player with a high hockey IQ who will bring both playmaking and grit to our lineup.”
Pogreba joins recently tendered players Brenden Coon, Jake Keller, Sullivan Scholle, JD Metz, and Brayden Ring in the recruiting class for the 2021-22 season.
