After the first period of play the Ice Wolves found themselves down by a pair. Under five minutes into the start of the game it was Matt Hutton sliding the puck right past Josh Langford. Later in the period and while on the power play, Connor Scahill fired a cannon from the top of the left point beating Langford. The first period ended with shots evened up at 9-9. The following two periods may have seen no goals but it certainly saw a lot of action. While there were a few big hits throughout the game, none were as big as the hit Keenan Johnson put on Gramm McCormack. With 7:17 left in the middle frame, the Ice Wolves captain laid a massive hit on to McCormack sending him right to the ice where he laid for a while. McCormack ended up having to leave the game with a towel to his face and would not return. The hit would spark a big reaction from the Jackalopes throughout the remaining period. Resulting in a fight between Sean Henry and Chace McCardle with under a minute left in the second period. While both players received a five and a ten-minute major for fighting it was Henry that got ejected for continuing the altercation. In the final period of regulation the Ice Wolves had multiple scoring chances but were unable to convert on any of them. Resulting in a 2-0 loss. Aaron Randazzo recorded his first shutout of the season after stopping 20 shots. Langford was able to stop 20 as well. Game two is scheduled for tomorrow at 7:15 p.m.
