KYLE MCKENZIE NAMED PLAYER DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR AND EQUIPMENT MANAGER FOR THE NEW MEXICO ICE WOLVES NAHL AND NA3HL TEAMS FOR THE 2023-2024 SEASON
(Albuquerque, NN) Tuesday, August 22, 2023 – The New Mexico Ice Wolves® today announced that Kyle McKenzie was named Player Development Coordinator and Equipment Manager for the NAHL and NA3HL teams ahead of the upcoming 2023-2024 seasons. McKenzie is a familiar face to many hockey families in New Mexico as he has helped with summer camps, clinics and private lessons over the last couple summers, which he will continue to do in his new role with both teams.
“I am incredibly excited and thankful to the New Mexico Ice Wolves to have this opportunity to support growth of all levels of hockey in New Mexico,” said Kyle McKenzie. “I look forward to helping the New Mexico NAHL and NA3HL teams continue on their paths toward the Robertson and Fraser Cups and the players to reach their full potential and achieve their goals beyond junior hockey.”
“We are very excited to have Kyle joining our staff this year. He has been doing a great job this summer coaching at our youth clinics developing young players and growing the game,” said Phil Fox, Head Coach and General Manager of the New Mexico Ice Wolves. “As a player Kyle has won championships at both the USHL and NCAA Division I level which shows that he knows exactly what it takes to be a champion. He also brings strong coaching experience as a former assistant coach at the professional level in the ECHL. We look forward to his impact on all aspects of ice sports in the state and particularly with players in New Mexico Ice Wolves hockey.”
A native of Aston, PA, Kyle McKenzie brings a history of championship hockey to the NM Ice Wolves having played on two title winning teams over a playing career spanning more than a decade. During his time as a Defenseman on the United States Hockey League (USHL) Dubuque Fighting Saints from 2011-2013 the team was crowned Clarke Cup National Champion in 2013. From there McKenzie played from 2013-2017 on the Providence Collage Friars winning an NCAA Division I National Championship in 2015. After his college career McKenzie played professionally for six years in the ECHL for the Worcester Railers and the Jacksonville Iceman, as well as a stint in the Southern Professional Hockey League for the Birmingham Bulls.
