Apr 27, 2021

The Ice Wolves are excited to announce that the team has signed defenseman Aidan Emerson to a tender agreement for the 2021-2022 season.

Emerson has spent the last three seasons playing at Prior Lake High School in Minnesota (USHS-MN). The 5’11” defenseman currently captains the team and has 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists) in 19 games. The Minnesota native also recently joined the NM Ice Wolves lineup during the team’s three-game sweep of the Shreveport Mudbugs.

The Minnesota native is eager to return to the NM Ice Wolves next season and continue his junior hockey career with a full North American Hockey League season. “I’m very excited to play again for the New Mexico Ice Wolves next season,” said Emerson. “The coaching staff and ownership are dedicated to improving each player and I’m looking forward to improving both on and off the ice.”

NM Ice Wolves head coach Phil Fox was impressed by Emerson’s performance with the team and is excited to see his development continue. “After seeing Aidan skate for about 10 minutes in his first practice I knew he was a guy we would love to have sign a tender with us,” Fox said. “The cherry on top was Aidan stepping into our lineup flawlessly against the first place Mudbugs and helping us get three big wins. He will be counted on to be a big time contributor in our lineup next season.”

Emerson joins recently tendered players Blayde Pogreba, Brenden Coon, Jake Keller, Sullivan Scholle, JD Metz and Brayden Ring in the recruiting class for the 2021-22 season.
